The International Office is honored to host a new Foundation Year Program sponsored by Chevron. The inaugural cohort consists of five employees from Angola who were nominated by their supervisors and selected by a scholarship committee to pursue undergraduate engineering degrees in the United States.
Prior to beginning their undergraduate studies, these outstanding students will complete two semesters at the University of Texas at Austin studying ESL, math, science, and study skills to prepare for the rigor of university academics.
In addition to attending classes this semester, the students have actively participated in various cultural activities around town including a state capitol visit, a Segway tour downtown, and a Longhorn football game. In October, representatives from Chevron Houston and Chevron Angola visited the International Office to meet with the students and sponsored student services staff.
