You’ve by now all heard of the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the provinces of Manabi and Esmeraldas on April 16. While the news media coverage of the catastrophe has almost ceased, tens of thousands of people are still very much affected by its aftermath: emergency shelters, food, and drinkable water are urgently needed.
Therefore, the Ecuadorian students at UT and the Associated Students of Linguistics are inviting the international community at UT to show their support for the victims. They are collecting donations to purchase 100 tents, 10 portable restrooms, and bottled water for Manabi and Esmeraldas, the two regions worst affected by the earthquake. Donations will be collected in front of Gregory Gym, so come by and show your support!
