This August, 17 students from Saudi Arabia will arrive in Austin, ready to experience a new culture and start applying to universities across the U.S. The cohort is part of the KAUST Gifted Student Program (KGSP), a prestigious sponsorship awarded to top-achieving Saudi high school seniors. After graduating high school, KGSP students kick off their studies with a Foundation Year–a two-semester program that supports students as they adjust to life in the U.S., apply to undergraduate degree programs and prepare for success in their college careers. The International Office is excited to host the KGSP Foundation Year Program for the fifth year in a row.
You can join the IO in welcoming this unique group of students to UT Austin by serving as a Foundation Year Mentor this fall. It’s a great way to give back and support other international students who are just beginning their own study abroad adventure–plus, you’ll learn about a new culture, make friends, gain leadership experience, and even have a chance to earn a little extra cash!
Have questions? Email kaust@austin.utexas.edu or attend one of the information sessions listed below. There’s no need to sign up in advance–just stop by the International Office!
