Looking for something to do for Spring Break?
Alternative Breaks (AB) is a program within the Longhorn Center for Community Engagement that sends small groups of UT students to outside communities around the United States to help individuals grow as leaders and learn about social justice issues through an immersive service experience. Alternative Breaks is great for students who are passionate about social justice looking to spend their holiday break on a productive and interactive service learning experience.
They are looking for students who want to learn about social justice in a hands-on way and serve alongside a new community. Students will immerse themselves in a new community culture, while gaining a deeper understanding of the social issues facing a specific community.
This year Alternative Breaks will focus on two social issues within two different cities in Texas:
- McAllen, TX: Immigrant Rights
- Austin, TX: Serving the Community Outside UT
