Did you know that the State Bar of Texas* has a useful resource called the Lawyer Referral & Information Service (LRIS)?
If you are not sure how to go about finding a lawyer, the LRIS may be a good place to start. After you provide some basic information about your legal matter, LRIS will refer you to an attorney. An important benefit of using this service is that the lawyer you are referred to will provide a 30-minute consultation at an affordable rate.
To get additional information about this service, visit the LRIS webpage. You can either submit your information via their online service or call (800) 252-9690 (Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST) for a referral.
Keep in mind that you do not need to hire the lawyer after the initial consultation session, and it is your choice which lawyer you decide to work with.
*The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the state’s judicial branch that provides education programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the Minimum Continuing Legal Education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney grievance process.
