We had so much fun welcoming all of our new international Longhorns to the Forty Acres at the end of August. Your excitement was infectious and we were so happy to see you all making new friends and embracing the UT spirit. Over 700 students came to our international orientation, 432 people took a tour with us, and 250 of you learned to boot scoot with us at Texas Two-Step!
Hopefully you are now aware of all the wonderful resources available to you on campus and we hope you will take full advantage of all UT has to offer you. Get academic help from the Sanger Learning Center and the University Writing Center; don’t forget to keep your mind and body healthy with the help of the Counseling and Mental Health Center and University Health Services.
Please keep in touch with us at Texas Global as well! You can make an appointment with a member of our advising team (be it sponsor, scholar or exchange) in person at Texas Global or online at the Texas Global website. Keep an eye out for updates on the ISSS Blog; follow us on Twitter, Instagram, or join our UT International Student Facebook Group where we post about various programs and events throughout the school year such as our Texas Excursions program. This Fall’s Texas Excursions include trips to a haunted house theme park, a spurs game, and an outing to the Houston museum district.
Want to meet new friends? Join a student organization! PALS is Texas Global’s sponsored organization; their goal is to facilitate friendships between international and domestic students both one-on-one and through group activities like hiking and game night! There are a large range of student organizations focusing on the international community. Planet Longhorn, Chinese Student Association, Longhorn Fulbrighters, Indian Students Association, and there are many more! They can all be found through searching Hornslink. Get out there and have fun!
