Texas Global wants to learn more about your experience as an international student at UT Austin. For the second year, UT Austin is participating in a global survey of international student students, International Student Barometer.
All current UT students received an email with an individual link to complete the survey. Complete the survey before Dec. 6 to be entered into a prize drawing for a UT/Texas Global gift bag.
We want to know what you think about your experience at UT, including:
- How was your arrival and orientation experience?
- How are you finding the accommodation?
- What do you think about the quality of your education?
Students worldwide are being asked to complete the Student Barometer survey and we urge you to join that collective voice.
The results of this survey will be used to help us identify ways to improve the student experience for you and your fellow international Longhorns.

It would have been nice to have someone (maybe another student) pick me up from the airport, I was lucky that I knew someone in Austin, but being welcomed by other students when you get here as a foreigner is nice.
A group on GroupMe maybe that would help guide me as an international student in my first few days, Just general tips were needed and a group chat would have been helpful.
I was recently informed that UT bought Dobie (where I live) and since I am here on sublease, I expect rent to increase for me. It’s been challenging to try to find a new place and move since I settled here and moving all my stuff will be a nightmare without a car.
I cannot say anything about the quality of education. Definitely lucky to be here. Moody College is the best! Very supportive faculty and cohort.

While I was not able to attend the in-person orientation, I really enjoyed the online orientation when possible. I had a few issues with my visa and ISSS was very helpful with their support and clearing out all questions I had.
I found housing on my own and have heard from a few international students that it was really hard for them to find good housing, especially if coming from abroad for the first time, as they did not have rental history or a credit score. It would be great to have a program that helps international students with first-time housing accommodations with a range of prices. The education quality at UT is remarkable and the professors very helpful. While there are a few things to still work on, I am glad to be a Longhorn!
