Independence Day, also known as the Fourth of July, honors the passage of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, and commemorates the founding of the United States of America. People celebrate this federal holiday throughout the country by gathering with family and friends. Whether you plan to spend the day at the lake or watch fireworks at night, we have gathered a list of Fourth of July celebrations in and around Austin.
Round Rock Express Independence Day Celebration
July 3 — Start the festivities a day early by cheering on the Round Rock Express Minor League Baseball team as they take on the Sugar Land Space Cowboys on July 3. After the game is over, stick around for the fireworks show and a chance to run the bases.
Volente Beach 3rd of July Fireworks Show
July 3 — Another event to get the holiday started early, this July 3 event is located just outside of Austin on Lake Travis. Enjoy the fireworks show from a boat on the water, or at the nearby Beachside Billy’s Restaurant or Volente Beach Waterpark.
47th Annual Austin Symphony Orchestra Concert and Fireworks
July 4 — One of Austin’s most deeply honored traditions. This free event features dazzling fireworks set to music performed by the Austin Symphony Orchestra. The fireworks happen at 9:30 p.m., but music and festivities begin as early as 5 p.m. Make sure to arrive early to get a good spot on the lawn of Lady Bird Lake, just south of downtown Austin.
Hill Country Galleria Independence Day Festival
July 4 — If you are looking for a less crowded celebration, this free festival may be the right place for you. Enjoy live music, do some shopping and grab a bite to eat before you settle down to watch the nighttime fireworks show.
Georgetown July 4th Festival
July 4 — For a celebration a few miles north of Austin, look no further than Georgetown’s parade and fireworks display. This free festival also includes live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, food, a petting zoo, games and rides for kids.
