As the holidays approach, Austin glows brighter than ever. From spectacular drive-through light parks to neighborhood gems, there’s no shortage of magical spots to soak in some festive cheer. Here are some of the must-see holiday light displays in and around Austin this season.
Municipal Light Displays
Zilker Trail of Lights
One of the most iconic holiday traditions in the city, the Austin Trail of Lights returns to Zilker Park December 10–23, 2025. This walk-through event features more than 2 million lights, over 70 illuminated displays, and 90 lighted holiday trees. At night, the park becomes a twinkling wonderland, complete with food vendors, s’mores roasting stations, and festive music.
Zilker Holiday Tree
Right in the heart of Zilker Park stands Austin’s beloved 155-foot Holiday Tree, draped from one of the city’s historic moontowers. With more than 3,300 multi-colored lights, it’s a must-see — especially when viewed from the base, so you can appreciate its spiraling glow. Tree lighting typically “turns on” at dusk, illuminating a beautiful downtown backdrop to the north.
Peppermint Parkway
If you’re looking for holiday lights with a twist, head to Circuit of the Americas (COTA) for Peppermint Parkway. This mile-long driving route takes you through a dazzling forest of more than 6 million lights synchronized to music, complete with dancing characters, a six-story lighted tree, food trucks, and even a holiday plaza for photo ops (and maybe a visit with Santa). It’s a great way to enjoy the season from the comfort of your car.
Mozart’s Festival of Lights
Mozart’s Coffee Roasters offers a more laid-back but equally enchanting experience with its Festival of Lights. Nestled by Lake Austin, you can sip on a warm drink while taking in synchronized light displays that reflect across the water. Live music, cozy conversations, and that warm glow? It’s pure holiday charm.
Neighborhood Light Tours
37th Street Light Displays
If you prefer neighborhood charm over large events, 37th Street on the north side of campus is a beloved local tradition. Residents go all out with creative, quirky holiday displays — think bright lights, stuffed-animal sculptures, and offbeat humor.
The street’s unique personality really shines through its holiday decor.

Sometimes, the best light displays are found simply by driving through festive neighborhoods. A few other areas worth touring are:
- Hyde Park: Historic Victorian homes outlined with elegant white lights.
- Pemberton Heights: Colorful displays often synchronized with music.
- Old Enfield and Clarksville: Soft, warm lights on charming cottages and pecan trees.
- Oak Hill – Maywald Display: One house transforms into a wattage wonderland and supports the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Whether you’re in the mood for a grand, ticketed event or a casual neighborhood stroll, Austin delivers holiday lights with style and heart. From Zilker Park’s twinkling trees to the whimsical surprises on 37th Street, there’s something for every kind of festive adventurer. So, bundle up (or roll down the windows), grab some hot cocoa, and let the lights guide you through Austin’s winter magic.
